Silverwolf is a local grown, sophisticated, college educated man with a touch of indian blood. While out one day riding his motercycle and revisiting interesting spots of his youth (like the post office on old stage road from the 1800's) he steps on a board that breaks under his weight and finds an old yellowing envelope with a letter in it. Silverwolf begins reading a handwritten letter from a cowpoke named Chance Kirstin telling of an event that happened more than a hundred years ago.

At that time a lonely, cold cowboy on horseback stumbles across a scene of tecnology that boggles his primitive mind. Scenes of flight and lazer digging tools, moving vehicles and disappearing people by teleportation keep him enthralled.

While he watches from a vantage point hidden in the brush he sees and hears people talking of moving between time periods and dimensions and other worlds and tho he doesn't fully understand it all he does see the danger to mankind in the poisoning of the enviornment from the technology.

Being alone he attempts to notify someone in the government (thus the letter) and returns to the sight with the local constable to try to get something to prove his story and to send as evidence with the letter while waiting for the cavalry. While returning to the scene he and his friend the constable are discovered by the beings and in traditional old west fashion have a shoot out while cursing blastphemies at the invaders of the human race.

While shooting and hiding he takes something unusual and not of this earth and not having much time..hides it in a local cave. The constable gets killed and Chance tho wounded, struggles back to the post office and finishes the letter and manages to hide it just before he is followed and transported to a detention colony in a futuristic dimension.

After reading the letter Silverwolf believes it to be a hoax but in curiousity he begins by looking up the name Chance Kirstin on the computer and finds he is a suspected murderer of a local constable who mysteriously disappeared in the mid 1800's.

This fact is enough to begin a series of adventures tracing down the truth, talking to local characters who are working ontime machines, looking for portals, fighting psychic entities and women who are trying to progenerate with lemurians. The story carries him through the legends of the Lemurians and other "spirit people" of the Shasta regions but in the end..through lots of possibilities and vague inuendoes...nothing can be proved but leaves a lot to think about.
